COLD weekend getaway to Georgetown and Denver

We headed to Denver the other weekend for a Broncos game. Of course, it decided to get cold and wet for that trip! We went to Georgetown and spent Friday night there. The next morning we got in the pool. The water was really warm...nice surprise for an indoor pool. They aren't normally very warm.

I am always on a quest to get the perfect jumping picture! These were both TERRIBLY over-exposed, and so when I darkened them in Photoshop, Breccan's turned a really funky color. I tried to fix it, to no avail. I'm wondering if the sun didn't come out about the time he jumped and that's why there's such a different color.
My kids are fish.

This shot I thought I'd try for a Christmas card picture. Not happening!
So Saturday morning I got up and got online on my computer to check the time to get on the train. I made the reservations for 12:45, thinking it was 12:45 from Georgetown. It wasn't. It was 12:45 from Silver Plume. Good thing I checked. We had to drive back to Silver Plume, which was only about 7 minutes or so. When we got to Silver Plum, we needed to find a place to eat and there's only three places. We settled on The Tea Room and it turned out to be a pretty good meal. The flowers above, and this pic of BayLea and I are taken there.

Then we got on the train, in the wet, drizzling rain.

Breccan fell asleep about 20 minutes into the train ride (no wonder, he goes to bed late when we're in a hotel room, but STILL gets up at 5:30 or 6:00 a.m.).
It was a great little ride. I'm excited to go again when it's WARM!
Breccan was still asleep when we pulled back into the station.
In Denver the kids did a little more swimming. Did I mention they're fish?

And then off to the Broncos game.

Look at how high we are...

way up there.

We had a great time, cold and all!

My beautiful ballerina...again.

On my photography teacher's alumni board she issues challenges...we've had square crop, numbers, and now shoes. This is my version. I knew I wanted to try this picture with BayLea and I think it looks really good. I'm considering getting a large one for her room. She is truly amazingly graceful as a ballerina. I sure hope she sticks with this.

I have a problem...

I have a problem. I really do. I went shopping last night and bought these 4 books. Can't wait to read them. However, I have a problem because on my shelf already....

I have these!
I'm sure there are more books sitting around that I haven't read yet but these are the ones I know I have sitting and ready to read!!! Is there a 12 step program for book buyers?

Another of Jaron's games..jv this time

Love this move Jaron!
Leading the team...
Ready to play...They scored on this play. Too bad I didn't get a shot of it. I was busy taking pictures of Jaron!

Mini-shoot with Breccan for his 3rd birthday

Breccan and I went out to try for some shots for his 3rd birthday pictures and invites. The kid is hard to take pictures of right now, although I did get a handful of cute one out of about 125 images. Many of them are like the ones in this little collage. His faces...they crack me up.

Now to decide which to use for the invitation. Right at the end of the shoot, he found this stick that I couldn't get him to put down. Eventually he smacked me with it, and so I threw the stick up the hill. Boy, did that ever make him mad. He cried and yelled at me for a while. Then he started telling me that he was going to "tell my dad (as in MY dad, not his) that I threw his stick and for me not to do that anymore". I tried to tell him that Pa was my dad, did he want to call him? He was totally confused on that issue and ended up telling his daddy when we got home that I threw his stick, leaving out the part about him hitting it with me.
When we got home, BayLea was coloring in the garage at a little table. The light was beautiful! The front doors were open because Jery was working out there, and she was near the side window. Isn't she beautiful!?

Air Show...a.k.a Blue Angels!

The air show happened last weekend! We took the kids Sunday. It was truly amazing, even though it was so hot! Look at the kids' faces...red! Just from heat. All the planes were really cool, but I really loved, and have always loved, the Blue Angels.

The above three photos were of three different planes...the small one was from WWII. The three flew in different formations with the little one in between and on each side. At the end of their demonstration, the two big ones rolled away and the smaller one continued forward. There was some sort of meaning to it all, but I missed what the announcer was saying.
There was a helicopter, not this one, that went almost vertically upward, nose first, and then leveled off almost instantaneously. It was amazing.

This was St. Mary's Life Helicopter. The kids liked it.

A really old plane, I think was WWII perhaps.

The pilots of a couple fighter jets. One was named Richard Woodward, and his call name, which was printed on the sides of the planes, was "Dickwood". We thought that was funny. They came from South Carolina (I think...or was it North?) stopped off in Atlanta, and then came here. There were 20 seconds late landing here because of the practice maneuvers of the other planes. 20 seconds...man don'tcha just wish that all the commercial airline planes could be only 20 seconds late?
This one is "Dickwood". They were both very friendly and both from Colorado...one from Montrose.
This is Fat Albert. I'm not sure of his purpose, except to carry seriously heavy loads. It was huge.
And of course the reason we came was to see these amazing pilots fly these amazing planes. It is truly an amazing site. The precision of flying these machines, and the trust the pilots must have in each other is inspiring.

When I was a young kid, I wanted to fly a Blue Angel. Now I know there's no way I could do that, but it still is a wonderous thing to me.
