Final Bee Celebration & Bay's Soccer Practice

 Mrs. Pearson always has a bee celebration at the end of her bee unit. They make 'bee bread'--crushed graham crackers and honey mixed up.

 They play a bee game where they roll the dice and draw the correct parts of a bee body.

 They taste 4 types of honey, including honey still in the honeycomb, a little bit of wax and all! Breccan liked all four types of honey. One was just basic store brand honey, one was wildflower honey, and one was buckwheat honey. They all had a different flavor!

 They also made cute little bee headbands. Breccan looked so cute!

 That night was soccer practice. Look at the face on my girl. All the girls...it's so sad the way the Fire Soccer program is run. Some of the teams have played together since they were 3 years old. And some teams, like Bay's team, haven't been together as long, and since they are the new team they get the new girls. Not that that is bad, (Bay was a new girl last year) BUT the problem lies in the games...the teams formed years and years and years ago are VERY good...and the completely crush the Dandelions...CRUSH them! Our girls work SOOOOOOOO hard, and love the game (just look at their faces) but NEVER win and in fact, get beaten so badly. Watching them try so hard, and never win, breaks their hearts, and their parent's hearts. I plan on writing a letter to the league; it is craziness to sit around why your daughter's love of soccer dwindles at each game. Probably nothing will come of it, because the parents of the kids who are on the winning teams are perfectly happy.

Color Sunday on the Mesa

 We went to Powderhorn for Color Sunday and rode the lift up to the top. It was so beautiful and very relaxing. It was a little chilly coming down and a little long...the kids got a bit bored on the way down. But it was so very beautiful and we had a happy day!

The Month of September

We went to watch the Blue Angels. They are so amazing. The kids parked themselves on the roof of our car, and mostly played instead of watching the Angels. But whatever...Jery and I enjoyed them.

 The ice cream truck dude got smart and delivered ice cream out to the desert!

 This one is my favorite...Fat Albert, flying by Mt. Garfield.

 Part of the discipline learning in 3rd grade this year was called Boot Camp. After the 4 weeks was over of boot camp, they had a celebration and received certificates, and they will soon get dog tags with their names on them. BayLea, later that week, was voted as Command Sargent Major by her classmates. She is doing so well in 3rd grade...she is a leader in her classroom! Yay for my girl!

 Breccan's class read all the Mercy Watson books. Mercy, the pig, loves toast with quite a lot of butter on it. So after they finished the series, they had a Mercy Watson celebration, with toast and butter!

Back to School 2012

My babies started back to school. Amazing that they are in 3rd and 1st grade! Time flies and it is truly bitter sweet!

Meet the teacher night was the Friday before school started to give the kids a chance to see their teachers. Breccan is in Mrs. Pearson, as BayLea was for first grade. This is where he checks in each day.

 He had to pick out books for his book box.

 And let the teacher know how he'd be getting home.

 As part of the morning routine, they put 1 piece of puzzle per day on a piece of card stock for the first 100 days. This puzzle was the puzzle they did when Bay was in first grade. Mrs. Pearson still has it hanging up in the room.

 BayLea is moving over into the intermediate side of the school. She'll be with Mrs. Rudolph for 3rd grade. She's going to do well and have a fantastic year!

 Ooooh, they'll learn cursive this year! Yay!

 Here we are on the first day of school. I had a pretty nervous girl the night before, with a few tears shed. But she woke up with smiles and was happy this morning. And dang, she looked cute!

 And here's the little man. I can't believe he's in first grade, and all-dayer at school! (You have NO IDEA how hard it was to keep him from wearing all his new school clothes and shoes before school actually started).

 In line to head in...I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that I teach there and can there for their first days!!! As a teacher, I wouldn't be able to do this if they were somewhere else because I'd be having a first day with a classroom of kids too and wouldn't be able to miss it. As it was, I was able to watch Bay head into her class, and when I headed over to Breccan's side to see him, he was just heading into class too.

 I took pictures for Mrs. Pearson the first day of all the kids. I wasn't real thrilled with how they turned out, so we re-took them a couple days later (below!).
