Snow Day!

Wow! We never have a snow day! We got a phone call at 5:30 a.m. that it was a snow day. It was truly unbelievable! We really had a wonderful day. Jery and Breccan shoveled snow (for a long time) first thing, like at 6:15 or so. Then he had to go to work...I guess people still want to drink on snow days! The kids and I went outside at about 9:30 and played in the snow. Sassy was hilarious out there running pell mell through the snow. We tried to make a snowman, but the snow just wasn't sticky enough yet. After we played in the snow for an hour and a half or so, we had hot cocoa. The kids played...Breccan pretended to be Diego and save animals in danger, and BayLea wrote sentences in her ABC Journal, as she called it. I made cookies.

Shoveling. We always ask the kids at dinner what their favorite part of the day was and Breccan said shoveling snow with Daddy. I wonder if he'll still enjoy that when he's a teenager and has to do it more often, like once a year...cuz that's about as many times as we get snow.

Breccan's good snow mitten was missing. He tends to play with things and things get lost and we don't have them when we actually need them.

When Jery got home from work they went out again to make a snowman. They only had about an 30 minutes before the sun went down, and the instant it went down, the snow got too powdery to make the snowmany any more. So, guess they'll have to finish tomorrow.

Photobucket
I didn't help this time because I was going to Michael's and Penny's. But I had to hang around and take a few photos.

With the exception of one nice mitten being lost, I had all the winter type supplies bought and ready to go. I bought their snow boots a month ago, and we bought snow pants on Saturday for the Parade of Lights (or as Breccan calls it...the Lights of Parade). Usually when we finally get snow in GJ, I'm rushing to the store that day to try to find boots and snow pants.

Moose Jam Session

There was a jam session at the Moose last night. My dad's friend, Bob Evers, has played music with dad for 40-some years. He is ill and so they had a jam to honor him and his music and contribution to the Moose. We had a nice time.

The band, Whiskey Jack.

The five of them have made a cd which they are giving away. All of their pictures are on the cover and everyone was wanting them to sign them.

Photobucket
This is a great picture of Dad and Bob. I'm hoping dad has a picture of the two of them together back in the olden days...I would like to put it on here. The two of them played music Friday, Saturday, and Sundays at the Moose since the 60s. For many of those years there would be 400 people there (am I right, Dad?). During the late
60's and the 70's, the Moose was THE place to be to listen to good country.

Parade of Lights

The kids got to be on the Stepping Stones float for the parade this year. We had a really fun time. We were pretty warm while we were on the float. Afterwards, we watched part of the parade (not all because there was supposedly 150 floats...we were float 18). It got REALLY cold then though.

Our plan was to actually help a little putting the float together, but we had a lazy morning on Saturday and by the time we got there, they were done.

And here is Mimi and the kids watching some of the parade.

We didn't bring these chairs, but when we were trying to find a place for the kids to squeeze through to see the parade, a lady who was standing in the back of a truck, told us the chairs were theirs and we could use them. It was nice to sit!

Making a bird mask & raking leaves

Breccan had to make a bird mask for kindermusic. He helped a little but he wasn't too interested in actually doing it. He wanted to direct it.

Some day I'll get one of him wearing it! And I have one of Miss Susan and her mask too.

My picture above the toilet

So I got this idea from someone somewhere on-line (sorry I can't give who ever you are credit!). I had the kids make stinky faces and I hung them behind my toilet in the downstairs bathroom. My mom had the idea to put the PU above it.
