Snow Day!

Wow! We never have a snow day! We got a phone call at 5:30 a.m. that it was a snow day. It was truly unbelievable! We really had a wonderful day. Jery and Breccan shoveled snow (for a long time) first thing, like at 6:15 or so. Then he had to go to work...I guess people still want to drink on snow days! The kids and I went outside at about 9:30 and played in the snow. Sassy was hilarious out there running pell mell through the snow. We tried to make a snowman, but the snow just wasn't sticky enough yet. After we played in the snow for an hour and a half or so, we had hot cocoa. The kids played...Breccan pretended to be Diego and save animals in danger, and BayLea wrote sentences in her ABC Journal, as she called it. I made cookies.

Shoveling. We always ask the kids at dinner what their favorite part of the day was and Breccan said shoveling snow with Daddy. I wonder if he'll still enjoy that when he's a teenager and has to do it more often, like once a year...cuz that's about as many times as we get snow.

Breccan's good snow mitten was missing. He tends to play with things and things get lost and we don't have them when we actually need them.

Snow angels were popular with the kids.

When Jery got home from work they went out again to make a snowman. They only had about an 30 minutes before the sun went down, and the instant it went down, the snow got too powdery to make the snowmany any more. So, guess they'll have to finish tomorrow.

I didn't help this time because I was going to Michael's and Penny's. But I had to hang around and take a few photos.

With the exception of one nice mitten being lost, I had all the winter type supplies bought and ready to go. I bought their snow boots a month ago, and we bought snow pants on Saturday for the Parade of Lights (or as Breccan calls it...the Lights of Parade). Usually when we finally get snow in GJ, I'm rushing to the store that day to try to find boots and snow pants.
