Breccan's got a big boy bike!

It's hard to believe that at the beginning of the spring, Breccan was barely able to ride his tricycle and that now he has his own big boy bike! We let him pick one at WalMart (hoping that he wouldn't pick the Spiderman bike) and he picked this one. Great pick, Breccan. Mommy loves it!

And here's BayLea and Breccan riding their bikes on the deck. I'm a little embarrassed to even put this picture on here because our deck looks like a trash heap! There must be 15 chairs out there! Yuck! But the deck is a perfect place for them to ride because they can ride around and around out deck table!

Sparks Family Mini-reunion!

So, Grandma was in town these last couple weeks and luckily Camilla was also here for a wedding, AND Jarod was able to come down for a few days. So we got to have a little mini-family reunion. Everyone came to our house, which was perfect, for us anyway!! We had hamburgers, brats, beans and potato salad. Everything was VERY yummy! I think I got some great pics...although I didn't get a few people who were here. Sorry about that, Jamie, Tina (I had one of you, but you were talking and I didn't think you'd like me anymore if I put it on there!), Lynette, Jody and Dana, and even BayLea is missing in action, except in the group pic.
Breccan got hold of my little camera and snapped away! We have lots of pictures of legs and sky.
Little Dani is soooo cute! I had been thinking she had dark hair, so I was surprised to see blond!

Camilla's fiancee, Paul, is a very nice young man!!! You did good, Cam! Breccan loved Paul, as well as all the other young men here tonight!

We didn't see a lot of Bella, she was playing with the toys!

These are all pictures I took the day I took the group picture. They are all so cute!!!

This was for Taylor's birthday. We had a party for both Jason and Taylor for their birthdays. Jason's was 8.8 and Taylor's was 8.3. Unfortunately I didn't get any of Jason and his gifts! Sorry, bro!

It was great to have Josh and the girls here for a few days. It wasn't long enough, but we definitely enjoyed them.

I think my pictures turned out okay, even though it was a huge hassle to get them all looking at the camera and smiling. I wish, though, that I had put them further back against the wall in the first one so that the wall was the main backdrop and not cutting them right in half! Drives me nuts when I don't get the picture I want!

First Day!

This is BayLea on her very first day of preschool. We had to have a picture of her pet, and since Kia is our only pet any more, we had to take one of her holding her. Isn't she cute? And this one is for mommy. BayLea's first day school picture!

My baby girl is going to preschool!

I can't believe my baby girl is starting preschool! She's growing up so fast. I think she's really excited about this new adventure. I'm excited for her. I'm kind of in shock that she's already this age, but I'm excited she's going to be at the New Emerson preschoolThese are BayLea's teachers. Miss Joy is on the left and Miss Brandi is on the right. I think BayLea likes her teachers already. Today was her 'assessment' day, which I think was mostly a getting to know each other time. I think they probably did a little assessing, but the main goal was to get to know each other.

So tomorrow at 12:15, BayLea is official in preschool. She's already so darn smart, I think she's going to be so ready for kindergarten next year. She's going to learn a lot!

A Weekend Getaway to Almont

This weekend we went away for the night to Almont, near Crested Butte. We stayed at the Lost River Cabins. We had a great time, although it was way too short! We wanted to stay Friday and Saturday, but Friday was all booked. Our cabin was on the old side, with a VERY short ceiling in the kitchen that I managed to NOT bonk my head on, but Jery got himself pretty good. It slept six, with two twin beds in the balcony. I wouldn't let the kids sleep up there, (and I know they wouldn't have anyway...) because I was afraid they'd wake up in the night and try to come downstairs...and those stairs were STEEP and vertical! This is BayLea sitting on the balcony.

We had steak, potatoes, green peppers, onions and mushrooms in foil bags for dinner, and then we had s'mores. The kids ate most of one, but neither finished it.

Jery tried a little fishing in the evening. The kids watched, and played.

This one of BayLea and the next two are actually from later the next day. We drove over Kebbler Pass on our way home and we stopped to take pictures a couple places, and we stopped at Lost Lake and made a little fire to roast hotdogs. But these pictures are out of order in the big scheme of things in this blog post! Sorry.

Okay, here we are back at Lost Canyon...Jery and the kids are fishing now. Poor Jery, he worked pretty hard trying to keep the kids' poles from totally tangling up in the creek!

They had a couple nibbles, but no bites unfortunately.
So we're back on Kebbler Pass now. The flowers were abundant, and our little campsite/picnic area was nice. We definitely would like to go back here some day and camp. It's totally beautiful!

Jery showed the kids how to toss the log. Breccan couldn't get the hang of it, because in this picture the log actually plopped right down on his head!
Jery put this hotdog on the stick, gave it to Breccan, assuming he would know it needed to be cooked over the coals. Obviously Breccan didn't get that concept because he started eating it right away, and from the side, no less. He doesn't quite get the hotdog eating thing that you eat it from the end. He eats it like he would a sandwich. And of course, a few more marshmallows! just to add a little more sugar to the weekend!
I loved my little weekend away with my little family. I have to start back to work tomorrow. This was a nice ending to the very quick summer!
